His long professional and entrepreneurial career has allowed him to participate in structuring and implementing great commercial projects in areas such as telecommunications, energy and infrastructure for megaprojects in Asia, Africa and America.

Hazel Cordero Bogantes

Partner Director

Legal and Notary degree from the University of Costa Rica and also specialized in Public Law at this University. Part of her broad professional experience includes working as an Attorney in the Legal Matters Division Department of the General Comptroller’s Office of the Republic of Costa Rica. She has given advice to International Institutions regarding project structuring and public-private alliances and she also works as an advisor for private international corporations in areas associated with energy, telecommunications, infrastructure and real estate.

The specialist Cordero Bogantes has vast experience in implementing financial models that help clients find the proper funds required to effectively establish their projects. With broad knowledge of international institutions and transnational companies, she has been involved in telecommunications projects using the latest third, fourth and fifth generation technology as well as in the area of energy supporting wind, hydroelectric and geothermic energy projects.

María José Aguilar Retana

Legal Adviser

Master’s Degree in Commercial Law from the Latina University in Costa Rica and a Law Degree from the Hispano-American University. With vast experience in her professional career, she has worked as a special consultant for national and multinational companies. MSc. Aguilar Retana is experienced in matters related to consulting in commercial law in the elaboration of typical and atypical commercial agreements, commercial brands, developing commercial companies, real estate consulting and securities bonds. She advices on corporate counsel to process immigration transactions in different aspects such as residence permit for company executives residence as a foreign investor, work permits for specific occupations, temporary business permits, country entry visas, visa extensions, residency termination and company certification proceedings for the General Migration Department.

Christian Merlos Cuaresma

Legal Adviser

Doctor in Tax Law from the University of Bologna, Italy. He obtained his specialty in International Taxes in the University of Castilla la Mancha, Spain. He also has a Master’s Degree in Tax Counsel from the University for International Cooperation, Costa Rica. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Costa Rica. He is an Attorney and Notary Public. He has ample experience in his professional and teaching career; he has worked as a specialized consultant for national and multinational companies during administrative tax proceedings, as a defense attorney in criminal-tax proceedings, as a plaintiff during litigious administrative proceedings in tax matters and as a professor and speaker in Costa Rica, Panama and Italy. He is a member of the Tax Issues Commission at the Costa Rican Bar Association at the Center for Tax Studies in Costa Rica, the Panamanian International Tax Investigation, the European School of Higher Tax Education and the International Tax Association. Dr. Merlos Cuaresma has vast experience in matters regarding tax advice, administrative and legal tax disputes, structuring business activities, specialized accounting in tax matters, with technical legal-accounting support, tax evaluations, creating price transfer policies and designing and developing specialized technical training programs in tax matters.

Alejandro Fernández

Legal Adviser

Master’s Degree in International Commercial Law from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, China. He is an Attorney from the Universidad Escuela Libre de Derecho and a member of the Costa Rican Bar Association.

His experience includes counseling to local and international clients in diverse areas such as Corporate Law, Public & Private sectors, Project Finance and Corporate Labor Law. Also he has broad experience working with foreign clients both in China and Costa Rica which enriches his intercultural vision and perspective.

Some of the firms that he has worked for include King & Wood Mallesons (Shanghai, China), River Delta (Shanghai, China), Daremblum & Herrera Attorneys at Law (San José, Costa Rica), among others.

 

Patricia Sáenz Zumbado

Legal Adviser

Master’s Degree in Notarial and Registry Law and obtained her Attorney and Notary Degree from the Pan-American University.
She has vast experience in her professional career and has worked as Coordinator for the Legal Advice Department at the Juridical Persons Registry and as Assistant Director a.i. at the Public Property Registry.
MSc. Sáenz Zumbado has a great deal of experience in matters related with consulting and structuring of Commercial Corporations, Associations and Foundations, Sanitary Registrations for Medications, Alternate Conflict Resolutions, Bankruptcy and Insanity Proceedings, advice and counsel in matters regarding Intellectual Property and Notarial Services non-adversarial matters in Notarial central administration.

She Works as a Professor at the Fidelitas University in the Notarial and Registry Law Specialty; she is also a member of the Evaluation Tribune in the Notarial and Registry Law Specialty at the Central American Autonomous University (UACA).

Rebeca Argüello

Business Development Manager

Multidisciplinary and Intercultural business experience. Ms. Argüello has worked planning, developing and executing relevant projects in the business, cultural and educational areas always seeking for efficiency in the process and excellence in the results.

She has a Sociology degree at the Universidad de Costa Rica and a Summa Cum Laude Master’s Degree in Research in the same university. Also studied Chinese Language and Culture in the Shanghai International Studies University, China. Her education together with her diverse working experience provides her with a wide set of tools to understand group dynamic, companies and business.

Some of the companies that she has worked for include The Binational Cultural Center USA-CR (Costa Rica), Inveravante (Spanish company in Costa Rica), Mad Science China (Educational Canadian Company in China) and Fast Lane (Costa Rica). Having worked in different countries and environments expanded her perception and abilities including speaking three languages and the adaptability to manage intercultural teams.

Carlos Salazar

Business Adviser

Business Administration degree at the Universidad de Costa Rica and the Instituto Técnico de Administración de Negocios. Mr. Salazar has a vast management and developing business career.

With over 30 years of experience running different business in the country, he is currently owner and co-owner of several companies dedicated to large scale construction and projects investment.

His experience with project management and business is also recognized in the real estate sector. Many companies seek for his advice and he has been president and vice president of many other.

Some of the most relevant companies Mr. Salazar has work for are the following: Coopecoronado, Stein & Company, Excélsior S.A, Hacienda Ilse Dinorah, Paso Ancho Hydro Power, etc.
